: : I was reading critical books on Blake [Songs of Innocence and Experiance] and one of them said that in the poems where Blake addresses children, Blake can be didactic and he uses the last line in the poem 'The Chimney Sweeper [of Innocence] which is 'So if all do their dut : y they need not fear harm', to prove it. I always umed that this was not Blake being didactic but ironic in a way of not agreeing. This idea of Blake being ironic and not didactic is also in many other crits as well as how it is potrayed in my lectures.
