dude, bio info on frost: i'm working on an exigesis of The Road Not Taken right now at St.John's Univeristy and came across your posting while searching around for stuff. There isn't really a single event that can be pinned down that you could say inspired Frost to write the poem, but his life in general can be cited. Frost was one who took the road less traveled in life... he aspired to become a poet, even when he wasn't sure if he could make a living doing it, and gave up a farm that he owned. When he was a child he heard 'voices', and was reported to be a lucutionary... He moved to England, fairly spontaneously, and then moved back; after dropping out of college after his first year he took a trip accross the country hitching rides on trains, and then eventually went broke and hungry and called his mom for fair to return home. He was a spontaneous man, who's decisions and risk taking throughout his life caused him to become one of the most respected literary figures of all time. ~~~~~~~ The majority of his family, from his mother, to his sister,to his son, were at some point insane, which is an interesting note. sorry this is soooo quick, but i'm just jotting down a couple of thoughts, i've gotta get back to work ... see ya
