Single women are naive, they have no female role models ( I guess except for Hillary “Stand by your cheating man to get your own career moving after sitting in his shadow like a twit” Clinton. As a result, they have nothing to cling to except this fantasy: That when they get married, it will be to a wonderfully successful man who loves them no matter how big their rear ends become over the years. While they don’t see Uncle Sam as a surrogate husband, they do see political candidates as potential mates. This is why they believe that personal feelings on abortion are important. They don’t yet understand that when your husband sticks his tongue down your throat in public, it is either because he feels guilty about something, or is using you to further his political/business career (either way, he gets his kicked when you get home). As fantasy is the core of the Democratic party (i.e. everyone deserves to be happy, blah blah blah), women, especially single women, will continue to vote for that side of the ticket.
Married Republican women are, unfortunately, the real problem. These women still raise their daughters to think that ambition is a waste of time, because it interferes with a woman’s role in the family. It is obvious that many of these women only vote for Republicans because their husbands do so. The impression they give is that women have a choice: either to be a good wife focusing solely on the family , or a successful, lonely, divorced woman with messed up children. With this, I can understand why single women don’t like the Republican party. Where are of the Republican female role models????? Where are the happily married, intelligent, educated mothers and wives that didn’t dedicate their whole lives to play dates and birthday parties? Where are the women with successful careers in math, science, or information technology? It makes no difference what the Republican mantra is, if the common everyday Republican woman is seen as a housewife who did nothing over the past 20 years but support her husband’s career, raise the kids, and only acquire a low paying when everyone is raised and out of the house.
I am fortunate. My mother was a software engineer and mother of 4, my mother’s mother was a business owner and mother of 4, and I am a programmer and mother of one (so far). To me, the Republican party stands for integrity, small government, and the trust that I can do it on my own. I sincerely hope that my daughter has more role models than just the women in my family.
